BACKGROUND: LISTENING FATIGUE is a term used in audiology to describe the mental and physical exhaustion experienced by deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) individuals of all ages due to the continuous effort needed to process auditory information.
This infographic is an exemplary student-created resource originally developed as an academic project. It clearly communicates how listening fatigue specifically impacts attention, memory, and academic success in deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) children. Additionally, it highlights evidence-based classroom accommodations, such as FM/DM systems and preferential seating, that effectively minimize these negative effects.
